Before I leave

I am all packed and ready to head off halfway across the world (almost literally since the time difference between AZ and India is 12.5 hours). My pack is miraculously only 30 lbs and all my clothes fit into a single stuff sack. I'm not as nervous or excited as I expected I would be, but I'm sure that those emotions will hit me once I land in Delhi. The things I expect I'll miss most in India (excluding the friends and family whom I will miss dearly) include - in no particular order - milk, my dogs, shorts, peanut butter, normal toilets, beef, clean tap water, and reliable electricity/internet. I'm sure I'll be homesick for random things, but it should be interesting to come back and read this post after it's all said and done to see how true my predictions were. I really hope that I keep up with this blog even though all previous attempts of mine to journal have been pitiful to say the least.

This past week my family has had rapid fire holidays so that I don't feel like I'll be missing out while I'm abroad. Having celebrated Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, my (fake) birthday, and Easter all in the last 6 days, we have a lot of really tasty leftovers in the fridge and too many sweets to count. In other news, I cut my hair into a pixie cut (or rather a hair stylist did) so that it's relatively low maintenance, but boy is there some getting used to. I'm sure my the time I get back it'll be a bob, but for now I have shorter hair than my older brother Steven. Anyway, I should probably get going and print out all the pictures that I'm putting in an album to bring with me and help my mom with the homemade cinnamon rolls for my last family brunch before I leave.
